Depression

What is Depression? And when should we seek help?

Depression is more than feeling down or upset. Depression can leave us feeling hopeless, unworthy, and a burden to people around you. It is a pervasive impact on your mood, making it difficult to accomplish daily tasks such as getting out of bed and going for a walk. Seeking professional help can be the last thing on your mind when feeling depressed. However, research has found multiple therapeutic modalities which support people struggling with depression to feel better.

Depression can affect people of all ages and looks different on everyone. Sometimes it can appear out of the blue, or gradually build up over time.

Statistics

According to Beyond Blue, in Australia, it’s estimated that 45 per cent of people will experience a mental health condition in their lifetime.

In any one year, approximately 1 million Australian adults have depression.
